Automatic delivery

The provider estimates when the tank needs propane and schedules a routed delivery. Tank monitoring can make this more precise by using actual tank-level data instead of only weather and usage estimates.

Will-call delivery

The homeowner watches the gauge and requests delivery. This gives more control over timing, but it also creates more responsibility and can be less efficient if the order becomes urgent or falls outside a normal route.

Questions to compare

  • Does the per-gallon price differ?
  • Is monitoring included?
  • Are there minimum gallons?
  • How much notice is required for will-call?
  • What happens if the tank runs very low?
  • Are emergency deliveries available?

Which is cheaper?

There is no universal answer. Some dealers favor automatic delivery because it improves route planning; others may price both plans similarly. Compare the actual terms offered to your household.
